Cadastral Map of Clifton, VA to show landownership of families in the area. Very clearly illustrates boundary lines between properties.

Propoganda Map

http://www.loc.gov/rr/geogmap/guide/gm050001.jpg

This was a 19th century promotional/propaganda map published and distributed by the Kansas Pacific Railway in 1872, with the hopes of getting cattle herders to use their Railway. In the bottom corner it reads "Kansas Pacific Railway: The Best & Shortest Cattle Route of Texas".
This map could also be classified as a Planimetric map, as it shows only basic horizontal details of the land, neglecting any topography.

Propaganda Poster: Printed in London in 1914, strongly meant to show Britain (and its Navy) in a good light, while illustrating Germany & Austria as aggressors. Also could be described as a Serio-Comic Map, which is meant to display serious ideas in a playful manor. Very strong political stances are taken by this map maker, declaring controversial opinions on the entirety of Europe at the time.

Topographic Map

Topographic Map of the Mariana Trench, the lowest elevation of Earth's crust, measuring approximately 36,200 ft deep!!!
Topographic maps are known for showing great detail about the particular area, which, on this, we see various labeling (ie: Challenger Deep in the lower left hand of the map, the deepest point of the trench), depth markings, symbols, and contour lines to show the terrain of the trench in full detail.
Could also be classified as an isoline map for it's 2demensional representation of a very 3demensional area of the Ocean (as shown by the contour lines).

This map is an example of a Mental Map, The World According to the United States of America, meant to show how the United States views the rest of the World. It is a world map, with the cartographer's views, or opinions superimposed.
